The Spanish Club of Directors of Institutional Relations and Communication analyses current political and social challenges at a meeting with Emma López (PSOE)

  • The Madrid City Councillor and political representative took part in an open discussion on the role of communication, transparency and public-private partnership.
  • The event brought together leading institutional relations executives and communications directors from the country’s major companies.

The Spanish Club of Directors of Institutional Relations and Communication has held a new edition of its traditional institutional meetings, a forum for debate which on this occasion featured Emma López, a PSOE councillor on Madrid City Council and one of the most promising emerging voices on the current political scene.

The meeting focused on analysing the current socio-economic landscape, the importance of transparency in public administration, and the strategic role of AI, European funds and other key issues in the private sector and public administrations.

A constructive dialogue on the future of institutions

During her speech, Emma López highlighted the need to “humanise politics and bring institutions closer to the public through clear, honest and two-way communication”. The Socialist representative emphasised that, in a highly polarised environment, rigorous reporting and corporate accountability are fundamental tools for building trust.

Key topics were also addressed, such as:

  • Public-private partnership: The importance of creating transparent synergies to drive projects that benefit economic and social development.
  • Urban and local challenges: Madrid’s role as an economic driver and the need for inclusive and sustainable policies.
  • Reputation management: How organisations and political parties must adapt their active listening channels in response to the demands of an increasingly hyper-connected society.

For their part, Club members raised their concerns with the guest regarding legal certainty, the streamlining of administrative processes and the strategic value that public affairs bring to business decision-making.

“A fluid dialogue between the business community and public representatives is not only healthy, but essential for the democratic and economic progress of our society,” stated the Club’s board of directors at the close of the event.
