The Spanish Club of Directors of Institutional Relations and Communication has formally signed and endorsed the Manifesto for Ceuta, a cross-sectoral and independent citizens’ initiative aimed at reinforcing the firm commitment of society as a whole to work together towards the restoration of social, economic and institutional normality in Ceuta and throughout Spain.
As a strategic meeting point between the public and private sectors, the Spanish Club of Directors of Institutional Relations and Communication bases its endorsement on five key pillars shared with the manifesto:
- Spanish Identity and Territorial Integrity: Ceuta is an integral and indisputable part of Spain, on exactly the same footing as Melilla, Madrid, Granada, León or Valencia. Its status as a city of the Spanish State is unquestionable and constitutes the inalienable foundation upon which our coexistence and identity are built.
- Unconditional Respect for Human Rights: A firm and non-negotiable defence of human rights. Ensuring respect, dignity and appropriate care both for those who have entered the city irregularly and for the citizens of Ceuta themselves. Both groups deserve the utmost respect, protection and civic consideration.
- Accompanied, Safe and Priority Return: Whilst safeguarding exceptional cases requiring special protection under strict humanitarian law, we call for the immediate organisation and management of the return of displaced persons to their countries of origin as soon as possible, through safe, coordinated procedures with all legal safeguards in place.
- European Border and Security for Families: Recognition and reinforcement of Ceuta’s status as an external border of the European Union, guaranteeing the security, institutional order and well-being of Ceuta’s families.
- Comprehensive Plan for Economic and Social Recovery: We call for an emergency plan equipped with the necessary resources to revitalise the economic fabric, ensure the stability of public services and restore normality to daily life in the city.
By signing this manifesto, the Spanish Club of Directors of Institutional Relations and Communication reaffirms its active commitment to the country’s major challenges, promoting collaboration, dialogue and support for strategic regions across the nation.
